Wall Of Remembrance

This page is dedicated Ulysses Garden Route brothers and sisters that have now passed on and will from here on ride the highways of heaven – Always in our memories.

Johan Roosendal alias “Johnny Polio” (Mossel Bay)

We remember Johan as a stalwart – supportive, straight forward and open, what you saw is what you got. Johan was also a bit of a horticulturalist & was able to tell anyone what kind of a tree it was when they asked. He was never wrong!

Gary Kent alias “Gazz” (Port Elizabeth) Honorary Life Member

Gary will be remembered as one of the Eastern Cape biking legends, 100% old school, he is accredited with fathering the term “getting Babooned”!

John Peel alias “Spare Rib” (De Rust)

John is remembered as the grandfather of the chapter, believe us when we tell you young bikers could learn a thing or two from John. He was still travelling on his bike (Honda Pan European 1300) to attend rallies well into his eighties, and believe it or not, he still camped just like the rest of us. A Legend and an Icon for biking in the Garden Route, John will forever be fondly remembered with the utmost respect.

Simonè Fry(Plettenberg Bay) Honorary Member – 2010

Her efforts and hard work at the 2010 Whale Rally rewarded her with a year long honorary membership to Ulysses Garden Route.

Fred Fourie alias “Fixit” (Knysna)

Fred was known to fix everything, even things that did not need fixing.
